Aadhaar enrolment phase 2 to start in Delhi

After being discontinued in the month of February, the capital is all set to restart the Aadhaar enrolment process in the city in the second phase from the next week. According to the UIDAI portal, already 1.13 crore people of Delhi have enrolled for Aadhaar till now.  Vijay Dev, Divisional Commissioner, said that in the second phase of Aadhaar enrolment in the city, people will need to submit certain documents such as voter ID card as a valid document for their proof of residence. The government officials will verify the submitted documents.

Dev added that those who have already participated in the Aadhaar enrolment process need not to apply again. The second phase of enrolment has come into effect after the chief minister of Delhi Mrs. Sheila Dikshit asked Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of UIDAI, to speed up the enrolment process in the capital last month. Last time five private agencies were engaged in the job of enrolling the residents of Delhi for Aadhaar. The following stats shows the number of enrolment done in the various regions of the state so far:

North West Delhi: 2646391

West Delhi: 1728308

South West Delhi: 1576700

South Delhi: 1521577

East Delhi: 1383106

North East: 1298773

North Delhi: 708611

Central Delhi: 561395

Others: 125

Variations in these stats with time are possible.
