Punjab Congress welcomes central government’s Aadhaar based Direct Benefit Transfer scheme saying that this scheme will help the beneficiaries to get all the money as credited to their name by the government under various schemes. This will reduce the corruption from the system. The economists and ther organisations have also praised the scheme launch. There are few districts of the state where the scheme is implemented this month.
News from Karnataka is that the monthly pension under the social security schemes of the state will be provided to the beneficiary through the direct cash transfer scheme. There are about 1.7 lakh people who gets the benefits of these state-run schemes which include old-age pension and widow pension. An official reprted that a verification is being done to verify the Aadhaar numbers and the linked bank accounts of the respective beneficiaries. He added that the verification process is expected to finish by the end of this month.
Global electronic payment firm VISA International has offered its nationwide network to the government through which the government can distribute subsidies directly to the beneficiaries. Visa has already launched Saral Money in December. Visa has tied up with UIDAI to facilitate cash transfer scheme.
