The Andhra Pradesh government is looking forward to make a Permanent Aadhaar Enrolment Centre (PAEC) in every district of the state. Presently 8 districts in the state are engaged in enrolling residents of the state for Aadhaar and this process is expected to be finished by March 2013. After direction from the central government, the Civil Supplies Department has asked Infronics Systems Ltd and Sreeven Infocom Ltd to set up adequate number of PAECs across the state.
Harpreet Singh, commissioner of civil supplies, said that we are going to make Permanent Aadhaar Enrolment Centres (PAECs) in all the 23 districts across the state according to the need for people who are without an Aadhaar number, for the new generation or to correct the errors crept in the process of enrolment. He also added that those people who have not received their Aadhaar letter after enrolment have to re-enrol to get their Aadhaar number. Those who have not enrolled yet will also need to enrol themselves for obtaining their UID Aadhaar Number. So far about 5.68 crore people have enrolled, 4.57 crore UID cards generated and 4.22 crore people have received the card in the state. The CSD has set up 15 PAECs in Hyderabad and 25 in East Godavari district and is going to set up some more in Chittoor and Anantapur districts in a week and in all other districts soon. Government officials will adopt the Aadhaar card as basis for all government schemes, including pension and scholarship, once the entire population is covered by the scheme. The card can be used to buy rations from fair price shops and for several other purposes. Biometric system will be used to prevent misuse of the card.
