Those people of Himachal Pradesh who enrolled for Aadhaar before 1st April 2012 but have not received their Aadhaar letters yet might need to re-enroll for Aadhar card. There are lacs of people in the state who have not received their Aadhar card even after a long wait of time. The Aadhar enrollment work began in December 2012. People who enrolled for Aadhaar before 1st April 2012 first have to check their Aadhar card status on the website. If the status message shows that “Your Aadhaar number is generated” then they can wait for their Aadhaar letter or can also download their E Aadhaar letter from the website. If the message shows that “Your Application is rejected” then they have to re-enroll for Aadhar card. And those who do not have their acknowledgement slip with them will not be able to check their Aadhar card status online.
Aadhar card will now not be required for the preparation of vehicles’ Registration Certificate (RC) and Driving License (DL) in the Chandigarh city of Punjab. The district collector of Chandigarh on Saturday submitted an affidavit in the High Court in which he took back his order of 5 December 2012 according Aadhar card was made necessary for vehicle Registration and driving license.
The UIDAI has praised the Delhi government for their efforts in implementing Aadhaar based direct benefits transfer scheme in the state. Delhi government has made Aadhar card mandatory for accessing various welfare schemes in the state including marriage and property registration. Ate government has also directed to finish the enrollment process by 31st March so that all the schemes can be covered under the Aadhaar based platform.
