For complaints related to governmental work, complainant has to provide his Aadhaar number as well. The main reason behind this idea is to reduce fake complaints. People can lodge complaint against any government agency of any state through DARPG’s portal pgportal.gov.in. Government employees will not suffer for fake complaints lodged against them on the website. However, Aadhar card will not be made mandatory for lodging a complaint but people will be encouraged to provide their Aadhar card number as well while filling up the complaints online.
About 1 lakh complaints are lodged every year on the portal. According to official records about 3 lakh complaints were filed online in the year 2014. Department of Administrative Reforms And Public Grievances (DARPG) facilitates online centralized public grievance redress and monitoring system. A Senior DARPG official said that some false complaints without valid proofs are lodged on the portal. People should be advised to provide Aadhaar number so that fake complaints could be filtered out from the genuine ones. This will prevent exploitation of a government employee. Prime Minister is himself monitoring complaints online through Online Proactive Governance Implementation.
