Despite Supreme Court’s order on Aadhar Card, third phase of LPG-subsidy through DBT scheme begins from Tuesday (1 October). Recently SC announced that Aadhar card cannot be made mandatory for availing any type of scheme or service but Petroleum Ministry has made Aadhaar the base for transferring LPG subsidy directly into consumer account. Petroleum Minister M Veerappa Moily has said that LPG subsidy through DBT will continue. He said that the third phase of the scheme in 44 districts will begin from October 1 and consumers will have three months of grace period for completing all the formalities. Consumer will have enough time and during this Ministry will study court’s order. Gas dealers and distributors are in dilemma as no instruction has been issued to them.
The third phase of the DBT-LPG subsidy scheme will be implemented in 44 districts from October 1. The list of all those districts is given below:
