The Aadhaar letter will now consist of Date of Birth (DoB) of its holder. Till now only birth year was printed on the letter. This will help those people who have to produce a document proof in support of their age for various governmental and non-governmental schemes. RTI activist Avinash Prabhune said that till now only year of birth is printed on the Aadhar card but principle consensus is made to write date of birth on the Aadhaar card. He raised this issue before UIDAI and Nandan Nilekani. He first brought the attention of UIDAI in November 2012. He received a letter from the Planning Commission in which he was told that now date of birth will be printed on the Aadhaar letter.
