Date of Birth to replace birth year only on Aadhaar letter

The Aadhaar letter will now consist of Date of Birth (DoB) of its holder. Till now only birth year was printed on the letter. This will help those people who have to produce a document proof in support of their age for various governmental and non-governmental schemes. RTI activist Avinash Prabhune said that till now only year of birth is printed on the Aadhar card but principle consensus is made to write date of birth on the Aadhaar card. He raised this issue before UIDAI and Nandan Nilekani. He first brought the attention of UIDAI in November 2012. He received a letter from the Planning Commission in which he was told that now date of birth will be printed on the Aadhaar letter.

Seeing at the importance of Aadhaar, there can be seen a competition among the people of Shri Muktsar Sahib, Punjab. Changing of enrollment centres again and again without any notification is posing difficulties for the people. People gathered for enrollment also protested for this on Tuesday. Another problem for people is the recalcitrant behavior of the staff workers appointed on contract basis by the company. People who came for enrollment at a centre from a distant place said that closing of enrollment all of a sudden created a chaos among the people. According to the staff workers the principal of the school refused to provide space for setting enrollment camp there. People along with children who reached in mass started to protest against the name of the company and also contacted the district collector Paramjeet Singh by reaching at the mini secretariat. Seeing at the scabridity of the situation assistant commissioner KS Raj reached at the school where principal told him their agony. He then asked the staff workers to enroll people that day and added that from April 10 they will arrange different place for enrollment. From today onwards enrollment will be done at the BDPO office. District coordinator Narinder Sidhu said that around 150 people are being enrolled everyday through two machines.
