Case of Rs. 200 per enrollment found in Ludhiana

A matter of taking Rs. 200 for the making of Aadhar card has been disclosed in Ludhiana, Punjab. The members of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have complaint regarding this to the district administration. Balveer Agrawal of AAP said that people of Durga Colony of Sherpur region were being asked to pay Rs. 200 each for Aadhar card enrolment. He said that when he came to know about his then he made a team to investigate it and found that besides taking Rs. 200 for enrolment, Rs. 10 to 20 were also being taken for filling up of forms and that also without giving any receipt of it. He added that the similar complaints have also been heard from Deep Nagar, Gyaspura and other regions. On resistance from the people, a quarrel also took place between the people and the workers over there. He said that on informing this to the district administration, ADC Neeru Katyal directed to put board at every Aadhaar enrolment centre informing people about free enrolment process. On the other hand Police Commissioner has instructed for enquiry into this matter.

For the sake of ease for the people of the city, enrolment process will begin in Chaudhary Devilal Stadium at Gohana in Sonipat. Any resident from any ward of the city can come here and enrol for Aadhaar card. Twelve machines are placed at the centre for quickly finishing the enrolment process.

  1. Aadhaar cards service is free of cost but we also face the same situation when we were demanded 20rs for the enrollment.When we resisted they demanded attested copies of our documents(which is not under provision only self attested copies are required).
