BJP targets government for DBT scheme

BJP has targeted the government on the issue of Aadhaar based Direct Cash Transfer scheme. Mr. Syed Shahnawaz Hussain from BJP said that the government has no stats regarding the people below the poverty line (BPL) in the country and the central government is only misleading the people through this scheme. He added that there is a continuous rise in the inflation and corruption and the government is not addressing those issues which must be taken care of rather it is just deceiving people through such schemes. He also added that the poor people of this country do not even have their bank accounts and now the finance minister is asking the bank managers to open their bank accounts suddenly. This all seems to be a chaos from the government. He also said that the preparations are also incomplete for the Direct Benefit Transfer launch. This statement has come from BJP after the Finance Minister Mr. P Chidambaram confirmed that the Aadhaar based Direct Benefit Transfer rollout will launch in 20 districts on January 1.

Besides BJP, NCP chief and Union Agriculture Minister Mr. Sharad Pawar has also mentioned his dissent regarding this scheme. Chhattisgarh government has already informed that they will not implement Aadhaar based DCT scheme in any of the scheme. While the government of Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand are keen to implement the scheme in their respective states.

Mr. Chidambaram today at a press conference cleared that the scheme will be launched in 20 districts on January 1 while the same will be launched in 11 districts on February 1 and in 12 districts on March 1. He also said that at present the DBT will not include food, fertilizer, diesel and kerosene subsidy under this scheme.
