After Government, Oil Companies reaches Supreme Court

Three Oil companies have headed towards Supreme Court over Aadhaar issue. The companies have requested for modification in its previous order on Aadhaar card issue. IOCL, BPCL and HPCL will put forward their petition before the bench CJI P Sathsivam and Justice Ranjan Gogoi for delay less hearing on Monday. Advocate Khushboo Jain said that additional solicitor general Nageshwar Rao will place their request before the bench. Companies say that DBT has been implemented and it is working successfully in 54 districts. Companies are in the process of extending it to 235 more districts. Old process of subsidy has been ended.

SC has given only interim order: Finance Minister

Finance Minister P Chidambaram said on Saturday that clarification will be made on Supreme Court’s verdict on the importance of linking LPG subsidy with Aadhaar. He told that wastage of money on fake connections will be prevented through this scheme. During the function of celebration of hundred years of Mysore bank he said that the apex court has only given interim order and has raised question on linking LPG subsidy with Aadhaar. He added that in those districts where the scheme has been implemented, officials there have found 50000 fake connections. By closing them Rs. 24 to 25 crore of money could be saved. There are about 13 to 14 crore connections in the country and if this scheme is implemented then 1 crore fake connections can be found which could save lot of money.
