We often hear about people standing in long queues from late night on the railway reservation counters to get their seats booked early in the morning but the similar situation can also be seen among people who want to get their 12-digit unique Aadhaar number. People at Kapas Hera in South Delhi join long queues from late night with the hope of getting enrolled for Aadhaar in the morning next day. This situation is arising at the Kapas Hera DC office situated Aadhar card enrollment center.
Long queues of women can be seen these days at the South Delhi DC office premises. All women gather at late night at the main door of the office premises to register their number for Aadhar card. On the basis of this number, people are called for the enrollment purpose on the next working day. However, there is no guarantee that despite of registering number late night one will get the chance for Aadhar card enrollment. Many women cannot enroll even after standing for 3-4 days in long queues. Women from Kapas Hera, Rangpuri, Rajokri and Samalkha come here for Aadhaar enrollment purpose.
A woman told that she had been coming there from Rangpuri Pahari for two days but she only got disappointed by coming here. She was told to come next day by the staff members. Another woman from the same region told that she had been standing there since 2:30 and that had been happening for two days. She was told that photography of only 100 people could be done in a day.
Nikhil Kumar, DC South Delhi, said that we are trying our best so that people do not face any kind of difficulty in Aadhaar enrollment. He added that he has information about increase in number of people coming for enrollment but is unaware about the fact that people are standing in queues from late night. He will look into the matter soon.
