61784 people in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh have not enrolled for Aadhaar yet. Out of the present population of 415081, 353297 people have done their Aadhaar enrollment. District Collector (DC) Kullu Sharab Negi said that 85% people have enrolled for Aadhar card while the rest will be covered soon. He said that the work of enrollment had finished but to request was made to the government for restarting this process to cover up the remaining people. Under this besides the district headquarter, 2 machines and 2 staff members have also been put at SDM Office Manali, Zonal Development Officer Office, Nagar Panchayat Bhuntar and SDM Banjar.
DC said Aadhar card is very important one. It will simplify the process of obtaining benefits of government schemes. Aadhar card has now been associated with every welfare and beneficial scheme from the government especially the people working under MGNREGA scheme, their payment will be directly transferred into their bank accounts. It also covers old-age pension, disability and widow pension. There are also many people in the district who have enrolled for Aadhaar more than 1 and 2 years ago but still they have not received their Aadhar card. Many have also complaints about incorrect details on the Aadhar card while the officials of the company are suggesting for fresh enrollment to the people. The English format of the Aadhaar enrollment form is also a cause of trouble for the people.
